I've got a 750 2003 Nighthawk that I recently purchased from a dealership. It's got 5000k miles on it. Uncertain as to if or when the fork oil has been changed or is the right weight. I put some zip ties on the forks and measured the travel after a day of riding (including speed bumps) and it topped out at 3 and 3/4 inches. Does this seem about right or do I need to add a heavier oil. On this model there doesn't appear to be drain plugs at the bottom so it would appear that I am going to have to remove the forks to change the oil. Any help would be appreciated. I won't even guess. Just tear-down and find out. Riding it doesn't do it any good, just makes the bill higher later. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Burke <[email protected]> To: Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers! <[email protected]> Cc: [email protected] Sent: Tue, March 9, 2010 11:12:00 AM Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] cb700sc valve noise?? Hello, I've recently just picked up an 1986 cb700sc. As I was riding it the other day and there is a noise coming from the upper left side of the motor (riders position). The noise is not there at idle, lower middle or bottom of the throttle and there is no power loss and/or vibrations. It seems to be there @ 3-5k RPM's. It is not a knocking sound. To me it sounds as if it has a bad valve or something is loose. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
