Well, when I first got my 250, I had the same problem, and no one at the local dealership couldn't tell me how to get the seat off. They looked in the shop manual and still couldn't figure it out. Only one guy knew and he had - retired??? I finally figured it out, and went in and shared it with them...

Eventually, I discovered that I had to push the helmet latch lock back, then find another latch on the other side, and push that one back as well. The seat tilts up at the front, and then it just comes off. Apparently, only the owner's manual tells you how to take the seat off, and that's located under the seat. Hope that helps a bit.
