Kim; did you get all the tools together to degree in the cams ? I have the factory spec for the bike.

Probably sooner. That will require quite a bit of work. The cam chain has no master link to remove it so the cams will have to be removed to get the chain out and that's no small feat. you should look at the diagrams to see what it would entail. The cam chain sliders will need inspected as well and they may also need replaced. You will also need a cam cover gasket and unless you can figure out how to cut one they aren't cheap. Until you take the top end apart you won't know exactly what you may need to replace. Unless you want to be a mechanic I would say be cautious. you may want one with fewer miles and in good condition. Let us know what you decide. The current owner tells me of a noise from the engine, perhaps valve lifters or more likely cam chain slack? Although I'm a fair mechanic, I do not want a project. I know that the reputaion of this bike is very good for many years of trouble free reliability. How can I determine what the source of the noise is? If it appears the bike has had reasonable care, should 30K be of concern, I might ride 2K a yr. As I understand it; cam chain noise is a common but seldom serious issue.
