Knowing all that, I have a hunch: When Honda stopped manufacturing Nighthawks in '85, they probably cleared and reconfigured whatever assembly lines were designated for that model and began producing something else -- much as automakers do.
But they probably had fully assembled bikes, sub-assemblies and parts for the Nighthawks already produced, but which were no longer being marketed. An excess, in other words. So they stored them in warehouses for future use by dealers as NOS (New Old Stock). Brand new but never used and available by special order. Some enterprising soul probably discovered there were enough parts to assemble complete bikes and make them available wherever there was still a demand for them. It's possible yours is such a bike -- manufactured in '85, but not assembled and sold as a complete vehicle until '89. As far as it being exported to Poland from the U.S., there is a Honda assembly plant here (Marysville, Ohio which produces Gold Wings, and until recently, the Shadow Sabre), which could also have been the assembly point for a limited production of your particular model. It might also explain round vs. square headlights and other minor variations. If there were a shortage of a specified part, they could have substituted another. All this is pure speculation, of course, but it explain all the discrepancies. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
