My expeirence is similar to MrViggy's. I find that with both my 78CB 750 and my 91NH 750 somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 choke is the sweet spot. They start at 1000rpm and after 5-10 seconds move up to 1500 rpm. Full choke is just too rich except for the very coldest mornings. When the tempurature is below 0 c, I use full choke but very quickly move it to the 3/4 position. By the time I don my insulate riding pants, plug in the heated vest and let it warm up a bit, the engine has warmed up enough to turn the choke off any away I go.
