Taiwan, formerly known as Formosa, is actually the legitimate government of
China before the Russians aided in the communist takeover thereof. They managed
to escape.  I think they learned from what happened to the Czar and his family
in Russia.
Their products are better, and most of our imports originally were either
Japan; or if not Japan, Taiwan, and/or Hong Kong, not China.
Yes, they are sensitive about it because of the above situation.  Taiwan is a
sort of an economic thorn in the side and China really wants to obliterate
Taiwan and it is probably going to happen sooner or later.
If I have a choice of a copy of a Japanese part, like a copy of Honda
parts, made in Taiwan and one from China I will take the former.  From
information I have gained from businesses dealing with China out of neccessity,
they have to inspect every shipment of goods, because even though they give
them the specs, they will send a bad batch if they think they can get away with
it.
They were injuring and killing their own babies with milk/formula laced with
melamine, not just ours.  And of course, there's the leaded paint on children's
toys...

Thanks Javi. I was planning on making a tour of the local motorcycle shops to
see what's new sometime this week. If they don't have anything comparable I'll
probably order these. I noticed they're not actually chinese though, "High
quality fully made in Taiwan, NOT China." I guess they're sensitive on that
subject ;)
