Went on a roadtrip this weekend on the CB700SC. Rode with a friend who
rides highways faster than I usually do - cruising at around 85mph.
This has my engine at >6500rpm in OD.

Twice (on the way there and on the way back) I had a sudden loss of
power, had to pull over and switch to reserve (felt like running out
of fuel) - both times I managed to do the switch before coming to a
stop and both times the engine kept running. Friend pulled over, we
checked I was still running, and finished the trip on reserve (with
plenty of fuel left - both times >1/2 talk).

So...all signs point to the "On" position of the petcock not allowing
enough fuel to flow. Possible culprits include the vacuum diaphragm in
the petcock, tank venting, or fuel screen.

Do we think a petcock rebuild will fix the issue -- or should I look
at aftermarket petcock/valves like from Pingel.

And, if I look at one from Pingel - has anyone got any experience with
them and the 'S', i.e. which adapter plate might fit?

Thanks,
-Dave
