Sell it on eBay and use that money to buy a windshield that fits correctly. Looks like they sell from $50 to $200 based on what they are and how they mount. You can but other windshields on eBay and other sites that are made for your bike.
I know - wheres the fun in selling this one and buying one that's easy to mount - for those of us that are wrench challenged it's really a matter of safety. A windshield coming off at speed could really hurt.
