Also possible, Don, that taking the rim off and putting it back on may have
resolved the imbalancing issue you first noticed. I know I have had similar
experiences with auto tires, and one shimmying cycle tire.

ever had the brakes locked up, even for a short distance, it can grind down
a small section. May not be noticeable to the eye but the flat point would
be enough to induce a vibration.
