Did you re-grease the bearings and the axle and torque all fasteners to specs when you put it back together?
If not, the new "stickiness" of the rubber could exaggerate any shortcomings in the reassembly process. Also, take care not to get too frisky with the bike for a couple hundred miles, till the cosmoline wears off the tires.
