Noah, When I pulled the collar (the threaded bit) away from the body, I noticed two keys in the collar, and two keyways in the body. I connected the cable and started the bike. I screwed around, pushing on things and trying to align the keys and keyways until the tach sat at around 2000 rpm - where the bike idles with the choke out. I then used a sharpie to mark the position of the cable relative to the body.
I drove to a hardware outlet and bought some two-part metal epoxy. I used my brother-in-laws dremel (living in an apartment, my "shop" is mostly limited to wrenches) to remove the excess material on the collar, and clean up the body. I made an awful mess, but when the epoxy set, I reinstalled the tach, and it's now working beautifully. Looks like trash, A local salvager thought he had a replacement tachometer, but couldn't find it. He did find a replacement for the center console, which is great, because the housing is starting to crack on my current one. Wish you luck with your repairs - epoxy worked great for me so far. -Ian On Aug 17, 5:58 pm, Noah Goodall <[email protected]> wrote: > I've attached the photo to the email, for those of us too lazy to go to the > website.
