Cleaning the carbs is easy, don't be afraid to take it on. The hardest part for 
me is getting the airbox back on and a ratchet strap helps greatly to push it 
back on.

Of course the clymer manual would be a good purchase.  But, if you're
new to repairs of this type (car/motorcycle) this may not be the
easiest first project for you, and you may want to just take the bike
into a shop.
