One thing I didn't see mentioned is hypothermia.
I have had it happen once and it is a very scary thing.
Not only was I very cold, I couldn't think clearly and that is not a
good thing when riding.
It doesn't have to be extremely cold for it to happen, either. I think
it was in the 40s or lower 50s F when it happened to me. The day
started out in the mid 60s, cold front moved in and we were 60 miles
from home and I'm not sure if I would have made it if I hadn't had a
buddy riding with me to make sure I didn't do anything stupid. (More
stupid, that is)
