I haven't piped up because my NHs are 80s bikes, but the front ones that are running lights are 3 wire and the rear ones that are blinker only are 2wire. If you've got one that's on all the time I'd suspect it's grounding out somewhere it shouldn't, or possibly a previous owner committed some shenanigans in that department.
