Hey I'm new here. I just learned to ride last year. I realized that it's time for something bigger than the XT250 that I learned on. The selection of pre-owned/pre-abused bikes is not large in the Nelson, BC area where I live. Then there was an '82 750 Nighthawk that caught my eye. It was hard to start and rough running, but I felt I had to buy this one. The other part of this story is that I also found a really good bike mechanic. The valves were way too tight(probably from overheating), and the oil looked like molasses. The carbs were totally unaware of each other, lol. So, I sputtered away from the mechanic about six hours later. running just a little better. Saturday I found myself at my brother's place about 300 km away. Now here's the good part. When I left to return home, all I had to do was warm her up. She was a brand new bike. Effortlessly climbing the mountains(good thing, we have a lot of them here). The carbon is gone!!! I love this bike. Still some things to do, including cosmetics.
