Get a jet kit, my personal favorite is FactoryPro as they use original Kehin
parts, Dynojet use their own parts and their jet number don't correspond with
the kehin jet #. If you don't have $100 for a jet kit and you don't have a
pilot screw driver the easiest thing to do is pull the carbs and adjust the
pilot needles to 3 - 3 1/2 turns out, then shim the carb needles with 2 #4
washers. This can be done in about an hour. I live in Md and I have a uni
filter and a moded exhaust 3 1/4 turns out on the pilot screws works best for
me. To tell if you have it too rich just warm up the engine and if you rev it
in neutral when you let off, the idle will drop below normal then return, also
it will load up if idling for a while and start to pop. Conversely when they
are lean the idle will hang a bit before dropping when doing the rev test, and
the exhaust will pop if you roll off the gas while in gear.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] K&N Air Filter on 2002 750cc Nighthawk

I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with a K&N Air
filter on your late model 750cc Nighthawks?? I put one on mine and it
basically is making bike run too lean by giving it too much air and
not enough fuel. The advice I was given by my car mechanic was trying
to adjust the air/fuel mixture on each carb without having the right
set of gauges to make sure carbs are all in sync can be a nightmare.
Paying a dealer to do that would be at the tune of $60-90 for first
hour labor. And that is if they don't spend more than one hour on it.

Anyone have any other ideas???

Thanks for helping.
