It's pretty much the same song-and-dance as with car dealers. You
make an offer, the salesman huddles with his boss, comes back with a
(probly underwhelming) counter-offer. You make a counter-counter
offer, again the huddle and the return with a slightly-sweetened
counter-counter-counter offer ("Okay, we can waive the setup fee and
throw in a helmet").
And like that, until you sign or walk.
You could probly do better with an out-of-the-way high volume dealer
like this one:
http://www.lakehillmotors.com
They're in Corinth, MS and they only sell Hondas and Yamahas, but
several acquaintances of mine have gotten deals with several hundred
bucks off MSRP.
I notice they're offering the slow-moving DN-01 for almost half MSRP.
That's about as dramatic a discount as I've seen, though, so that bike
must be a real dog, sales-wise.
