Some members have reported that the K&N filter puts too much air in the carbs making the bike lean. I think most of us use the OEM Uni filter which works just fine. I did the washer mod, which I love in terms of performance and simplicity. I can't tell about fuel consumption because my speedometer is broken, but I haven't noticed any big differences.
