While Christians are commanded to follow in Christ's footsteps. We do them out
of love for our fellow man, whether we're appreciated or despised. Not because
we are compelled to do so, or because it will earn us a place in Heaven.
According to the Bible salvation is the free gift of God paid for by the
sacrifice of Jesus. All anyone need do to receive it is to ask Jesus for it.
Salvation is not by works alone. This is the primary separation between
Christianity and other religions that believe in a paradise, as the others seek
to tell you how to get there through your own deeds.

I don't die to rot in a box, I plan to live forever in the memories and
legacy with others I leave behind. :D If I couldn't positively impact at
least one person's life enough to be remembered, should I really be
expecting some sort of paradise after death for myself?

While I am alive I have only my own motivations to guide me to do good or do
evil, and how I wish to be remembered: Do I want to be cursed when I am
gone, or do I want to have shown others that mankind is capable of good and
great acts without being compelled by an outside force? Can we only do good
or evil under the influence of something greater than our own wills, or are
we capable of choosing those paths under our own volition and cognizance? I
feel that we are.
