The initial turn is where the problem is. I tried it with a new key too. I thought that the old key has worn down too much. I have better luck trying to lock the forks and then turning the key on to start it. Let’s start at the beginning: by “sticky ignition” do you mean that with the key inserted, it is difficult to turn initially without jiggling or wiggling the key but that once started to turn it is easy to turn the rest of the way? Or is it sticky or difficult to turn throughout the full rotation? If the former, it is probably the key/or switch. If sticky throughout the full rotation it is not the key, but the switch being dirty, sticky, etc., and needing cleaning/lubrication/etc..
