You also could just take the switch to a locksmith and have them replace the
pins and give you a new key.

Was the “new key” a copy from the “old key”? Do you have more than one
“original” key? Does any key work better than the others? If you have an
“original” with numbers stamped in it, you may be able to get a key made from
the numbers by a Honda dealer or a locksmith rather than just copy the worn off
spots.
Please clarify your “I have better luck trying to lock the forks and then
turning the key on to start it.”

The initial turn is where the problem is. I tried it with a new key too. I
thought that the old key has worn down too much. I have better luck trying to
lock the forks and then turning the key on to start it.

Let’s start at the beginning: by “sticky ignition” do you mean that with the
key inserted, it is difficult to turn initially without jiggling or wiggling
the key but that once started to turn it is easy to turn the rest of the way?
Or is it sticky or difficult to turn throughout the full rotation? If the
former, it is probably the key/or switch. If sticky throughout the full
rotation it is not the key, but the switch being dirty, sticky, etc., and
needing cleaning/lubrication/etc..

Spray WD40 on the key and work it in the ignition. Also take a wire brush to
the key to remove burs

Can anyone tell me what would be good to use to free up a sticky ignition?
Even with a newly cut key, it"s hard to turn the key.
