Well, this is from the senior citizen's perspective: Not me, the bike.
My '92 has 118K miles, put on over 8 years. In all that use, no major
component has ever failed and the bike can still do over 100 mph,
getting 40-50 mpg.  What has needed fixing: the tach, as mentioned. A
leak in the valve cover gasket. Two rebuilds of the starter and a new
starter solonoid. A rebuild of the petcock. New rear wheel bearings
and a new right pod switch.  That's it.

In fact, I paid $2000 when I bought the bike in 2004, with about 20K
miles on it, so the price quoted sounds ok for miles, so long as the
bike has not been allowed to sit and rust or has been abused.

Good luck with it. The NH750 is a great bike.
