that sounds like a whole nother problem? i had a bike that did something very similar to that? unknowingly i wasnt happy with the stiff aftermarket clutch springs so i replaced with factory and putting it back together i felt a pop like one of ther plates wernt lined up right and after that it was like factory smooth! hope it helps?
