There is a fuse in the selenoid that's worth looking at even though it is rarely bad. It is most likely the ignition wires at the back of the fuse box. It happened to me several times before I really fixed it. I'd be riding along and the bike would just shut down. I had to wiggle the wires behind the fuse box and it would come back to life. It could be the innards of the switch but be careful if you open it up as there are a lot of small parts inside. You may be better off looking for a switch on ebay and replace it.
