+ I would add the electric windshield is amazing at cutting down road
whistle. Also if a BMW K1300 comes up, don't bother.... I heard they are
terribly overpriced and maintenance nightmares.

Subject: RE: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Concourse Vs. the ST1100 / 1300s?

I recently read a blog on this very question, a guy that was very familiar
with Concourse, ST1300, and the FJR on the ST-owners site. The guy boiled
it down to this. They are all good bikes. The FJR was smaller, lighter and
quicker. The Concours was large like the ST. However he claimed the
maintenance on the ST was much less and better than all hands down.

I tested a Concours once. I didn't care for it, because it seemed like a
boat to me. Maybe the suspension was not set up right on it.

I love my ST! It rides a Honda and howls like a Honda on steroids. My caveat
is that it is bigger project to work on anything under the front fairing.
There are lots of screws and clips. After only having a NH and naked bikes
it's just much more. With 3 disk brakes there were seven lines to bleed out
the fluid and of course the clutch fluid.

Below is one comparison I did find over there on the ST-owners site:

Hope this helps,
Ron

I'm 6'4" with a 34 inseam and it felt great.

I like the FJR's adjustable controls / seat - but - I'm concerned -
the lowest seat height listed on the website is 31.5 (rounding)
inches. With my 30 inch inseam - thats a bit tall. On the other hand,
I got on that ST1100 with absolutely no problems either.
Hmmmmm Gotta ride one I think - or at least sit on one.
In other news, I found out there is a 2002 Kawasaki Vulcan
750 with 17,000 miles on it for $750 about two miles away. Only
downside - its at a car dealer with a less than perfect reputation. On
the other hand - if I beat him up a little and paid cash.....
