I have used the wal-mart filter for the last 3 oil changes but the last one the wal-mart closest to me stopped caring the Supertech brand (aka Purilator brand.) So this time I used a Fram oil filter I just looked it up in the book on the isle. I have had no issues and my '85 nighthawk 700 still gets 50mpg with 68,000+ miles. Oh I also use synthetic car oil without any issues for the clutch just like it talks about on "Pauls Nighthawk pages".
Hope this helps Brian On Jun 17, 5:36 pm, MJB_LBC <[email protected]> wrote: > Since I'm relatively still new to the group, I'm going to assume that this > question has already been brought up since the oil filter cross reference > information is on Paul's Nighthawk website. > > http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html > > Just wondering if anyone is really using the $2 Walmart SuperTech ST317 Oil > Filters on their Nighthawks? > > If so, how is that working? > > I bought the bike with a KN-303 filter on it, going to do an oil and filter > change, and if I can use the $2 filter as opposed to the $12 filter, why > not?
