Word of caution, in the salvage yard near my house is a 650 burnt to
smithereens. Story is that the owner pulled a dent out of the tank but drilling
holes and using a slide hammer. He then bondo'd the holes shut and painted over
it. After a while the gas ate through the bondo, leaked fumes into the garage,
ignited by the gas water heater, and burnt down the garage.

I agree. That is why I was asking. My youngest works at a classic car
restoration company. I have thought about going there to see if they have that
particular tool. If not, I could probably make one here at the shop.

I would be a little concerned with pressurizing the whole tank in the hope
that a dent would “pop out”. What makes you think the dent is the weakest
shape in the tank? Maybe something else would give out first. Maybe
compressed air and this “Dent Out” tool would do it.

I have two dents in my tank, from when I purchased it in the spring. I
would also be very interested to know how the compressed air method works, if
you try it. I hadn't thought of that...

Got a dent in my fuel tank. My fault, I was trying to get all the fuel
out & had it resting on a pair of jack stands. Thought all was good, then the
tank fell over & got dented. Should have drained it while on the bike. Lesson
learned.

My question - has anyone out there tried compressed air to pop a dent out
of a mc fuel tank?
      Thank you,
