Dennis, I have switched all my bikes to Shell Rotella T 15/40 (which is JASO MA certified). Some came to me running on synthetic, others I have no idea. The only problem I ever had was on a 1984 700S which was being run on synthetic and when I switched to Rotella, I could no longer down shift or, at least it was really hard. No problem going for 1st to 6th but going back down - to 5th was OK but from 5th to 1st, I thought I might bend the shifter. I drained a little of the Rotella T and added 25% Marvel Mystery oil and the problem has all but gone away. I still have the bike and plan on keeping it. I'm sure at the next oil change everything will be back to normal. I will probably still add a little MMO in case.
