You have to use a 2-part urethane clear if you want it to be gasoline
resistant otherwise if you spill or drip during a fill your paintjob will be
ruined. Urethane is not compatible with all paints so choose your color
wisely.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Any recommendations on 'Rattle Can' products?

Hi Gang,

Didn't get any responses trying to sell the 550 so I'm going to give it a
badly needed paint job.

Last weekend I used some 'ZAR' paint remover & light sanding & the tank
came out nicely. It was a relief to see it didn't have any hidden flaws.

I did a light coat of Rustoleum Primer, wet sanded it & added another coat
of primer. That's gonna be it for now until warmer weather arrives in the
Spring. This will be the first time in 4-years the bike will spend the
winter inside since I now own something with 4-wheels.

I was curious if there were any types/brands of paint/clear coat that are
of superior quality in a spray can?
I thought a friend owned a spray gun, but found out it was borrowed from
someone who is very protective of their tools.

Just thought I'd run it by some folks with experience.

Thanks-
Bernie
