Sorry I might have been thinking color-right, anyway unless you have a
compressor with a decent sized tank a spray gun will be frustrating at best.
The key from what I have done is to lay the paint down quickly and evenly, as
thick as you can get it without any runs. You can go for many thin coats,
sanding between them, but that is extremely time intensive but ultimately can
produce better results. Chemical compatibility between primer, base coat, and
top coat for me is the most confusing part, your rusoleum primer will dictate
what can go on top of it. Paint fumes are extremely dangerous you need a good
organic solvent respirator.

Duplicolor is probably your best bet, though if you have an air compressor.
Places like eastwood co. Sell make your own rattle can kits. So you could use
any automotive grade paint.

Hi Gang,

Didn't get any responses trying to sell the 550 so I'm going to give it a badly
needed paint job.

Last weekend I used some 'ZAR' paint remover & light sanding & the tank came
out nicely. It was a relief to see it didn't have any hidden flaws.

I did a light coat of Rustoleum Primer, wet sanded it & added another coat of
primer. That's gonna be it for now until warmer weather arrives in the Spring.
This will be the first time in 4-years the bike will spend the winter inside
since I now own something with 4-wheels.

I was curious if there were any types/brands of paint/clear coat that are of
superior quality in a spray can?
I thought a friend owned a spray gun, but found out it was borrowed from
someone who is very protective of their tools.

Just thought I'd run it by some folks with experience.

Thanks-
Bernie
