The selonoid has 2 big posts on it one has a cable to the battery the other has one to the starter. If you short the 2 posts with a screwdriver you bypass the selonoid. It is a test to rule out a bad selenoid. Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

There was no problem with starting before I took it apart. My original battery I knew was gonna die because it hasn't been charged at all for at least 1/2 a year. The replacement battery was borrowed from a friend's bike which I just rode prior to borrowing his battery. I'll open up the starter later and see if there's any problem there.
