Thanks for the replies. Didn't think I was doing any great damage by bump 
starting, but I wanted to be sure. I do plan on rebuild/replacing the 
starter, it's just that I had never done it before and since the bike is my 
everyday transportation, I needed to be certain I could find the time to do 
it right! As far as falling while bump starting, I'm sure it can happen, 
but I'm 6' 3", 250, I'm straddling the bike in a riding position when I'm 
starting it. 15 - 20 feet and I'm good to go! But, as I said, I will 
rebuild/replace the starter. I'm an expert now, I went to Kyle's link! :)
