My Dad had a 2000 Sportster 883 - this bike would be 7 years older and
bigger - I can tell you that the Sportsters made up until the latest
generation (Which have a bigger front tire, fuel injection etc) are really
very basic hard riding vibration prone machines. The new ones - much much
better.
         Just my two cents.
