You really don't need to use a headlight modulator in a group since the point of the modulator is to be seen by other traffic. Being in a group takes care of that. Most modulators worth their salt can be switched on or off. Honestly with my 17 year old son now riding a motorcycle I want as many options toward safety as I can get.
