Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: FORK SEAL REPLACEMENT

okay update time!
notice the enthusiasm.

apparently there was no sponge seal. I've read that some people don't
bother putting that back. I think that was my problem to begin with. I was
looking for something that wasn't there. before I get all existential, I'll
move on...
Snap ring came out easily enough, same with the fork seal. slid new ones
on, punched it with a pvc pipe (inside diameter 1.5 in) everything goes
back together nicely. All in all a bit of a messy job at times but with a
lot of rags and sense of accomplishing something, The second fork only took
about 20 min. A bit better than the first one which I clocked around 4
hours total :)

Tomorrow morning my JB welds should have cured (see CRACKED OIL FILTER
COVER thread for that mess) and this hawk will be purring by 10am! Plenty
of time for a nice long ride tomorrow.

Mark
