You mentioned Seafoam. The smoke could be from that and will go away when the "gunk" is gone or that tank of gas is used up. If the throttle was just sticking, you would possibly feel that in the trip. Look at the linkages at the carbs when it is revving and push the throttle closed to see if any effect. Check that tube and nut -- good thought.
