Also sentimental value, or how much you have invested into something does not make it more valuable in the eyes of the general public.
Not to say that $2400 is more than what a 650 is worth because I agree they are great bikes, and I would rather own one over any number of modern bikes. Prices do have a lot to do with your regional market, but around here it would have to be pristine, and low mileage to compete with the much newer bikes selling for that price point. And I live in an area that commands higher prices, just a couple hours north Graham buys and sells bikes for probably half of what they sell for around here. I can attest that the 650 he is selling is extremely nice as I helped him to get it running, it has a new paint job and stickers, seat cover, everything.
