If you had a reasonably long test ride then ignore this, mostly. But...How long did the PO let it sit? Unscrew one of the carb bowl drain screws to make sure you are getting fuel. If it starts and dies again, try checking he bowl again for fuel. I had exact problem and the problem was the fuel petcock was glued shut from sitting. Just a thought and hopefully easy fix.
