Hello everyone. first time poster here. I just picked up this 83 cb550sc a good week or so ago. She has about 53k miles on her and is my first bike. I had a no start condition at first, and an oil and gas leak, which has all been taken care of through KISS and working my way through my Clymers. I had a few questions that I believe to be specific to the bike so I can finish getting her road worthy. The throttle slides (diaphragms?) on cylinders 1 and 4 actuate with the use of the throttle, but 2 and 3 do not, is this something that is working as intended? Somebody told me that on these carbs 2 and 3 do not actuate until more load is on the bike, I.E. at higher speeds. The other thing is she doesn't like to idle really well, which Im sure has a lot to do with fine tuning the pilot screws (which is on my list as soon as my float boal gaskets arrive from ebay) but its particularly troublesome with the ticks and sputteryness that comes out of the bike around 1000-1100 RPM when thats about what the idle should be. Is that something that clears up when the fuel/air mix is proper? Thanks for your responses guys! It's awesome I stumbled onto this place!
