It's not an LED problem, it's a -cheap- LED problem. OEM LED lights are brighter than incandescent lights, some so bright people actually have tried lobbying to get them banned.
The secret is that they aren't cheaping out on them. They're using high current, wide angle diodes and dedicated current drivers on the lights.
