Allen, It's a rubber gasket. I have the permatex and planned on a thin coat on the V/Cover to seal and hold the gasket in place in the "channel" in the cover and another thin coat on the gasket after set in the cover. Let it set up a bit before flipping the cover over to install. Thank you for the heads up.
