Ha...that's funny.  Same myth perpetuated by Navy buddies who have retired 
there.  Been hearing it all my adult life.  ("You'd hate it here...rains 
all the time...overcast every day...too remote...difficult 
terrain...nuthin' to do...") ad nauseum. 

I remember:  Frost on the ground once in 4 years.  No snow, except on 
distant mountaintops.   Lowest winter temps in the 30s, 80s in the summer.  
As much sunshine as overcast and not all that much rainfall. 

'Course the Navy, in its wisdom, built the seaplane base in a "weather 
shadow" at Oak Harbor to insure calm conditions for 24/7 search and rescue 
flyability, so I could be a shade biased.

But you nor'westers need to give it up.  It's the world's worst-kept secret 
(!)
