As you may know, two weeks ago I left my side stand down and as a result tipped
the old girl over. My shocks blew and so I purchased a new (to me; OEM, 8k
miles) set of shocks to remedy the sticking rear end. Well, the eBay shocks
were terrible and the sticking was even worse. Defeated and thinking my frame
was bent I begin to panic. I found a pair of Emgo shocks on Amazon for 80.00 +
free shipping and figured it'd help determine the state of my bike. A week
later, here we are.

Anyways, I read some pretty awful things about Emgo as a company and their
"budget" products. Let me start off by saying my frame is not bent. The shocks
work (nearly) flawlessly. I really like the black on chrome look, though I
believe they also come in chrome. The shocks, 1 up, are a bit stiff. That being
said, the ride is ten fold better than my old shocks were pre drop. After
trudging through an intersection with the OEMs, at 45, my rear end would bounce
for miles (not really). I think I was driving a pogo stick. it must've looked
silly watching a motorcycle bounce up and down like that. These new shocks do
not bounce or pogo. They ride really nicely for the price. The Emgo shocks
held up to a 200 mile ride today, everything from twisties to highway @ 80 mph
(I don't like to go faster as Abigail feels like she's moving left to right
underneath me any faster, ideas?). Again, they're a tad stiff but I would
highly recommend these babies to anyone who thinks spending half a G on rear
shocks is absurd. I do have the drop in progressive front fork springs so my
suspension set up is a bit stiff in general, which I personally like. It's like
a shoe, you want it to be tight so you know where your feet are, but not so
tight as to cut off circulation.

I also want to thank all of you for your insightful replies and helpful advice
following my first drop. I made this little review in hopes if anyone needs or
wants new rear struts they can find a review. I could hardly find anything on
these rear shocks, besides a bunch of progressive fan boys hating on anything
not $500.00+.
