Very good tips.
Let me add 2 more.
1) Don't get any of that brake fluid on anything you don't want to repaint. It
will strip the paint right off of your tank, fenders and much, much more..
2) In case a partial or full rebuild is needed, I completely rebuilt my clutch
master and slave cylinders in just a few hours with under $100 in parts using
tips from folks in this forum and the clymer repair manual.

Welcome to the Group!
If you don't have a repair manual, it's highly
recommended
Occasionally you can find tutorials on youtube that are helpful
Sometimes the small seals in the piston of the master cylinder go bad.
The
problem I found with my 550 & 650 were the seals in the slave cylinder were
shot.
When I removed the 3 bolts on the side of the case near the shifter, it
looked like cottage cheese inside & nothing like fluid!
You'll need seals #9
& 15 in this
diagram-

There's
also a kit available from E-bay with the seals $15.50 & free shipping-

Following symptoms after starting fine in
neutral:
- clunks out / jerks forward when put into 1st (even with clutch
handle engaged)
- I can get it going by giving itgas when putting in gear
(jerky/rough)
- Clunks out coming up to stop
- clutch handle has almost no
tension
- still feel the rpms change when shifting even with clutch handle
fully engaged
- really hard shifting between gears with pedal
Basically
feels like the clutch is always let out.
Flush fluid? Anything
else?
First timer w this stuff, thanks!!!!
