Sorry Graham, I didn't mean to steal your thunder, lol. Yes those are slide carbs. Glenn, yours are definitely not Mikuni's, they are Keihin PD series, Honda has a long standing use of their carbs. But I would expect from your chart there that the mystery screw is the Air screw opening. So opening it up would lean the mixture not richen it. A bit unusual for MC carbs but I have seen cars go both ways on their mixture screws. This is also backed up by this post on the SOHC4 forum: http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=5410.0
As for the pilot jets they are press fit and not screwed in, and that is why you don't see them Dime city and probably other places like jetsrus sell them I've never had to work on these types but if I recall you can get them to fall out by baking the carbs then spraying freon on the jets. Unless you changed the exhaust or modified the airbox this it is highly unlikely you need bother with that. Here is a link to dime city for a visual on the jet. http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-carburetor-parts-xl125-cb125-cb550-cb750-keihin-pd-pilot-jet-35-49a035.html Just remove those screws and squirt cleaner and air in every hole you find. Lastly here is some info on the orings used in those carbs. Scroll down to the second entry. http://www.sohc4.net/cb550-faq/ Good luck On Fri, Nov 6, 2015 at 11:51 PM, EGrider <[email protected]> wrote: > Here's the picture of the carbs you asked for, Allen.
