I have family in Naples, so I'm pretty familiar with that patch, but
there's a piece I've always wanted to explore, just never had the time.

That's the Tamiami Trail (aka US41), south of all the development, thru the
Everglades to Miami (connects with I-95 eventually).

Took a short jaunt of a few miles down it once and was impressed by how
quickly it turned to pure wilderness, flocks of disturbed egrets both sides
of the 2-lane, and who knows what else. Pure old school Florida.

Virtually no traffic, even in the thick of the tourist season, and I'm not
sure, but I think it goes thru the Miccosukee indian reservation.

So if you're up for a little diversion (and maybe some adventure), turn
right at Exit 101, instead of left to Alligator Alley/Ft. Liquordale, and
pick up US41 about 10 miles in toward Marco Island.

Lemme know how it goes.
