Allen, the floats crossed my mind, too. I've never done much with floats
because I never know how to measure them. If they look about even across, I
go with that. I've got to pull the carbs on a duplicate bike for a
different reason. I'll check the float levels on that bike and make both
match. I guess I should throw them in a jar of gasoline and make sure they
really float, too.

Haven't pulled the plugs in a while. I haven't touched the cables because I
haven't seen a need to.

Graham, your post came in while I was typing this. I'll definitely check
for leaks. Thanks.

BTW, you sent me some carb files a while back when I posted about the
"mystery screw" on my 550K. The idle jets on those carbs are pressed in,
but I soaked the #4 in warm yamalube and I removed the mystery screw, which
is the mixture screw. Got that blown out and set at 1 1/2 turns like the
rest, and voila. I've got fire on #4 again. It's nice. I haven't had tags
and insurance on that bike for like 2 years now, but there's something
about the signature whine that bike makes that makes me feel 27 again. I
may have to tag it this spring.
