Well, from all I'm reading I'll probably just leave well enough alone. I had a Sabre V45 years ago. I was able to pull the baffles from that. They weren't welded in. I didn't loose any noticeable power and the bike had a great growl. Not Harley annoying, just a nice mean growl. Wish I could do something similar. I don't understand why the baffles on the 550 had to be welded in?? I do like the idea of the ear plugs. I'll have to try that. I've never worn ear plugs. I know, you're supposed to and not doing so is supposed to harm your hearing long run, but honestly, I've been riding for 35 years and as far as I can tell my hearing is just fine.
