Going through Nevada to get from SoCal to the Grand Canyon is a bit out of the way, unless he really wants to see Vegas. I did a lot of the trip you describe in May 2014. Slideshow is here with a map at the beginning if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jGu_F86q-c&feature=youtu.be Monument Valley would be a must for me, along with Arches Nat'l Park. The Rockies can be treacherous if it snows and freezing cold otherwise, but I-70 will of course be clear. Otherwise there is Rt. 50 across Salida and Canyon City in CO, which my Dad used to call "the all weather highway" before the interstate system. The road through Durango and Pagosa is also great riding. After you get to Denver or for sure Kansas/Nebraska, the trip is over for all intents and purposes, as you know. It's just gutting it out on across the flatland after that, and you might as well be on I-70 to cruise into Columbus.
I'm a buckeye myself, from the Cleveland area. Went 4 years to OU down in Athens, so I went through Columbus enough times back in the day. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group.
