Marion, regarding the gasket, you need to make sure that (1) you have cleaned very well the contact surface after you removed the old gasket, and (2) the gasket is properly aligned, i.e., it did not move when you put the cover back in. Item (1) is easy and just takes patience making sure everything is cleaned and no residuals are left, but (2) is a bit more tricky. Last time I changed one I had to do it several times because the new gasket keep moving and getting slightly out of place.
